“Time is Money” – Benjamin Franklin

It’s the truth. You need time to work and you need time to play. You work to make money. But sometimes playing can help you earn more as well. While money is important, time is even more valuable.

Whether you need more money to cover your bills or simply because you want more. And you deserve to have it. So here are 3 ways you can increase your free time and your income.

1. Automate

gearsHonestly, how much time do spend paying bills? Driving to the bill payment office and waiting in the line for about an hour or so is a serious time suck. That hour could better be used brainstorming ideas for a profitable side venture or improving your skills – making you a more valuable asset to your employer. Automate your bills, this will allow them to be paid directly from your bank account. You’d save time and gas money.

2. Implement Routines

There are certain things we’ve got to do. Getting up early in the morning and getting dressed is one of them. How much time do you spend deciding what you’re going to wear today or looking for a certain article of clothing that just seemed to magically disappear, clothes aren’t the only things. Keys, wallets, socks, sunglasses and all other manner of small objects seem to go missing and have to be hunted down. This is to our detriment. According to a study, the average person spends approximately 30 minutes a day looking for lost items. 30 minutes? That’s 3 hours and 50 minutes per week. Now imagine what that time could have been used to do. Imagine how it could have been used to increase your income. Get your stuff in order and stop wasting valuable time looking for them day in and day out. Implement daily and nightly routines that will make it easier for you to go on about your daily life. This will save you time and also ensure your priorities are intact.

3. Trim the fat

No, not the body fat; though if you have too much of that, you’ll want to get rid of it. I mean, cut out the unnecessary things out of your life or at least reduce the amount of time you spend on them. Evaluate how you spend your time. Is majority of your time spent with your buddies at the bar, reliving the good ole days? While reminiscence is not bad once in awhile; it doesn’t help your bank account when you’re reliving the old days, each and every single day. It also doesn’t allow you the time to create any new experiences or work on ways to earn you more money. Look at how much time you spend doing stuff each day. What can you cut out that isn’t helping you and replace it with something that will beef up your bank account? Do this and you’ll be surprised just how much time you have and just how much time can be used to increase your income.

How else do you increase your time? Have you tried any of the tips above?
